Documenting the home of Jazz

Continuing the narrative of True Originals, we selected New Orleans Jazz as the theme for the last in the Ingersoll tintype photography series. Jazz is seen by many as ‘America’s classical music’ originating in New Orleans during the late 19th and early 20th centuries.

We first had to choose a location that honoured this tradition, the Preservation Hall is the home of New Orleans Jazz Music. The band needed to have authentic jazz players and the Preservation Hall Jazz Band are renowned as one of the best and most famous for traditional jazz.
